New moon. Full moon.
These are the two children of the Zheemke family.
Ravi'a and Ohra were raised on the fringes of the Shroud, born into a family that struggled in their interactions with the people of Gridania, and recognized a penchant for cruelty among those that had no respect for the Keepers.
Ohra saw how such a life weighed on her brother who, in his pursuit for knowledge, grew relentless when he was offered so little. Even from such a young age, she did what she could to support him, and it was that determination to strive for better that made them so close.
He was brilliant, of course. A prodigy in the ways of magic, and though Ohra would follow in his footsteps he most certainly had a head start. This drove a wedge, as small as a splinter, between the siblings. But Ohra was happy, proud of him, and she would have it no other way.
They left their youth behind and traveled once they were able, with him following his own passions and she developing an interest in the darker sides of magic, eager to pursue something that he had not. The independence suited her well, and she was sure that distance would make the heart fonder, eager to see him again whenever the opportunity arose.
But every time they met, she realized he knew her less and less, until the young man that sat across from her with his nose in a book was little more than a stranger. A talented stranger with connections to the Students of Baldesion, who traveled far and wide as a scholar and adept magic user. The pride and joy of the family.
A splinter left unattended had now drawn them far apart.
What did she have to show him? Their parents? A vast knowledge of occult history, of Eorzean mystery and tragedy. A magic that was deemed questionable to most other casters. Strange. Eerie. Unsettling things.
She had spent her life trying to set herself apart, and only made certain she would never leave his shadow. Even though this knowledge stung, nothing hurt more than the way her own brother, who she adored more than anything, now looked through her.
He would leave again, and with his absence she found desperation. To be known, acknowledged, respected for all her hard work.
Bitterness and envy took the place of love and affection for her brother, and it was this darkening of her heart that drew the attention of the Lambs of Dalamud. Offers of companionship, of a magic far greater than what she could find in any book. These were the things that drew her deep into the world of voidsent, where she decided what it was she would do with her life.
She would be stronger than her brother. She would single-handedly destroy the work he'd spent all these years creating, and finally he would acknowledge her.
As an adversary. As a threat. But she would finally have the attention of her dearest sibling again.
That was all she could ask for.
